Hehe, btw there’s a couple of terms I’d like to discuss on how to translate as they’re used frequently, where can we possibly discuss that?

you can create topics by yourself in the translations section of the forums. We already have one for dutch.

I guess the most important thing in this forum is to agree in each language how special terms are named or whether to stick with the English word, if common and adopted. Just like our Dutch friends have done.

I think what @JeremyK has going on for the Dutch language terminology is great, so is definitely a good idea. Will look at the dutch list tomorrow afternoon and set them up! Of course, anyone is free to it before if they want to!

Talking about great work, i can understand there being so many keys if i find these two with the same text: object-name.key.deicing-pad &object-name.key.de-icing-pad 
And don’t forget the new ones that will be needed when, erm, new things are added.
A lot of the german translations provided is still only translated in a word-to-word manner and not according to industry terminology. I will try to contribute but I only got a little amount of free time.

Last link that i’ll drop here :
This is a vocabulary book made by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organisation, part of the UN). They made a little booklet with most of the specific terms we need English, French, Russian Spanish, Chinese and Arabic. It might be helpful to maybe extract the correct translation for those languages and code them
For instance, definition n°:
A58: aircraft
A74: aircraft stand
A79: airline
A86: airside
A96: ATM (and its full word)
What do you think, should we try to use such a document for those languages to get something quite uniform ?
PS : there is an index at the end, no need to search through the entire document for a specific word

I tried some more ‘free’ translations with a sprinkle of improvement here and there but since my wife and I are currently dealing with childbirth I am of no great help for a week or so. We need a terminology list like the NL and ES one. Could a moderator kindly provide use with one?

That’s cool! However I can’t seem to find the actual booklet anywhere? Maybe I need a login? I think it might be a good idea! In Swedish for example, I wouldn’t know what to call aircraft stand, other than simply “stand”, the English term. Maybe help with those words can be found in the index!

There have been a few popping up! I’ve waited with starting new one as the other lists kind of grew. I might start similar threads for the rest of the languages when I’ve got time today.

But it is interesting to see the exact words, especially in french, I’ve never seen some of them but i’ve never called or named those objects or places before (for instance airside) If you are interested i could start with a google sheet to get the words and their reference listed out (the one we are interested in)

Now that’s a crazy view and an insane amount of work and effort done… in ONLY five days! What! It almost puts the first localization agency we used to shame, although nothing can compete with the force of a truly dedicated and talented community. Just wow!
With more and more languages reaching 100 percent… It’s almost as if now is when the real race starts. Who will make it first to 100 percent verified? That’s an almost even greater task, given the number of users needed to be involved.
Extremely impressive regardless, we’re suuuuuuuuper impressed by your work and very excited for what will happen next.
