I’ve noticed when you remove a moving walkway, once removed, the people (passengers and staff) will act as if it is still there. That, or they know how to jazz run.
Jazz hands!
This is a necessary feature for corner stands. I use it to build extensions for jetways at corner stands so they can reach the terminal by going above the vehicle parking areas of adjacent stands. Any alternative solution in mind?
Found another item - airline logos you can select to decorate with will only display the first 19 contracts signed + your airport (for a total of 20) logos. If you need the logos beyond the first 19 contract signings, they cannot be accessed. Maybe a feature to scroll horizontally when a menu’s items exceed a certain amount?
I had the same issue and for me it also cleared after save/reload.
Regarding the domestic/international flight issue, I think what we should consider is also the way how people would usually play. I guess the average players might want to place an airport at their location and “make it big”, even if it wouldn’t happen in reality - that’s the tycoon aspect. So the limit of domestic/international flights depending on location shouldn’t be fixed, that would block this kind of development.
What I could think of for the tycoon aspect: When deciding for the airport location, the initial number of international and domestic flights should already be visible to allow a decision based on that (maybe not an exact number but showing whether I can expect a lot or just few flights). Later on, it should also develop depending on my infrastructure. If I have more international stands than flights offered, my airport should slowly attract more international airlines resulting in more flight offers. Maybe also depending on an R&D program “airline aquisition” or similar.
But the number itself does not help much. If those other airports are too close you only get GA airplanes flying to them.
As example: If I play GVA at the moment, there are 6 domestic airports in the game. But 2 of them are too close. If I play ZRH, I get only 1-2 destinations. Why should I build a domestic gate with let’s say 20 flights non stop serving the same two destinations.
It is a nice feature but based on a function which acted more as a game decoration in the past. The player has no influence on it and is forced to follow the game rules and can’t rebuild it’s home town airport as he/she knows it.
in my opinion not implementing the Schengen area works to the detriment of the game
You’re right, domestic flights are more difficult. The perfect scenario would be new domestic airports popping up if you offer enough gates; however dynamically creating new airports with new IATA codes, proper city names etc… that’s not that easy. And being served by those existing two domestic airports with 30 flights per day wouldn’t be all that much fun.
Maybe one option could be agreements with other countries, although probably too much for version 1.0.
That way you could even create your own Schengen area but in a more flexible and less political way: Playing in Switzerland, there could be events of neighboring countries asking for a “borderless zone”, allowing you to agree or decline the offer (which usually isn’t an airport CEO’s job, but in a tycoon game would fit). If for example you get an offer from Germany and you accept, afterwards all flights from/to Germany would be treated as domestic without passport checks.
How so?
Another vote for @twocflyer here. Lets make domestic/international even easier. Simply include in the Flight Planner screen a slider: at one end Domestic, at the other end International. The position of the slider determines the ratio of Domestic to International flights. Move the slider all the way to Domestic and there are no International flight; move all the way to International, then no Domestic flights. In between sets the ratio.
This puts the player in control of his/her play experience. And isn’t THAT what’s really important here? Not somebody’s arbitrary and capricious assessment of what the experience SHOULD be.
I should reiterate that, in my opinion, the main problem is that the minimum/maximum range of each plane is totally wrong. For example A320 should be used for short range flights like in reality and so on. Also bigger aircrafts should be usable of shorter distances too, as it often happens when the needed capacity for a route is high. To make this more flexible this can be configurable for each carrier or airport. In addition to this, a slider that allow to choose the number of domestic/international flights should solve all the problems.
I think we should wait with the evaluation of international/domestic flights until the new contract system is out. Then we will know better how the dispositions of flights will be. Maybe there is something in the contracts that will balance how the flight ratio calculates…
I agree with your viewpoint. Maybe they could decrease the range of airplanes for domestic flights only? I don’t know how doable this is with the current state of the game, but I think it would be realistic that domestic flights of a certain range can handle bigger airplanes compared to the international ones. So a flight from San Antonio - Houston could be done using a bigger plane than San Antonio - Monterrey. I think short distance domestic flights are more common than short distance international flights for bigger airplanes (Bangkok - Chiang Mai, Rio de Janeiro - Sao Paulo, Istanbul - Izmir). I think having this separation between domestic and international flights will offer more domestic flights in smaller countries and more international flights in larger countries if tuned correctly with the ratio.
@Jettuh @Olof About the Large Security Checkpoint model. I remember a few months ago before the big bird update was introduced on instagram there was a story about the new Large Security Checkpoint with trays like at Schiphol airport. Why that model has not been released?
ACEO-27277 Contractors cannot find their way. I read that I’m not the only one having this problem. Despite straight line and accesible areas contractors cannot find way to build things. I get a lot of notification about that, over every item to build is icon with human and “???”, but somehow they manage to build everything…
This bug is really eluding me… there was one fix in a previous version but that seems to only have lowered the frequency of this bug. Do you know exactly what is happening to cause this behavior? Does it just occur randomly during a shift change?
This sounds like a bug to me, can you report the save in which this happens so we can test the route generation system? The idea is that if you have 50% large domestic stands and 50% large international stands, the domestic to international route spawn generation target would be 50/50 for large flights (or medium if your large stands has that setting toggled) - as long as there are airports and routes to support that (which there should be in for example Russia). The same would then go for medium and small stands respectively, each stand size and stand type has their own generation ratio pot and shouldn’t be affected by other stand’s size or travel setting which it to me sounds like they do. Alexander is taking a look at this now regardless.
Which I mentioned earlier very few players built with this “feature” correctly compared to how many broke stuff with it. If there is enough demand for this “feature” to be brought back it is something we could look at but not at this point since we have much more pressing issues at this point.
Not sure I understand this issue, do you mean that aircraft pushing back wait too long in advance for other aircraft passing by behind? If so that’s a known issue and something that’ll be looked at in beta, not a pressing issue compared to the other bugs we get sent in.
I’m not sure but I think it’s been mentioned that it is something Fredrik will take a look at during the beta stage.
Correct, only a very small percentage of the daily players are playing with the realistic toggle on.
A good idea, something I know @Alexander wants to include.
Not sure which one you mean, we’ve never had any other large security checkpoint model than the one that is currently implemented.
Correct, this is a bug we’re taking a look at right now.
It’s random. Not at shift change that I know of.
Definitely a bug. I believe the issue is that the system didn’t consider size of planned flight. If you have 10 small domestic stands, 1 large domestic and 1 large international stand, it is VERY unlikely that the poor large flight will be international (1/12 probability). This should be fixed now and is currently tested! Thanks for the report @twocflyer, as always!
Great point. This is definitely something we consider! Just a matter of how and when. But in the end: if the location is important (as it should be) to the operation of the airport, we need to make it clear to the player what to expect!
@Olof It was during a conference. I think it was last year. On the instagram of the studio there was a story posted about a 3d model playing of a large security checkpoint with trays like those on Schiphol Airport. Just go look in the instagram story archive of the studio and you will find it what i mean.
