As you may notice, there is a lot of terminology within Airport CEO that needs consistency. Think of words like Check-in Desk, Boarding Desk, Runway, Baggage Bay, … which are used all over the game and can have multiple translations. Since we are with multiple translators working on the same translation, we need to arrange some translation rules for these words in order to make sure that they are correctly and consistently translated.
This topic will serve as a place for discussion and to define terminology. Once certain words have been discussed and we have come to an agreement on using a certain word, it will be listed in the table below. If it is, please use the agreed translation while translating to achieve consistency throughout the game.

Baggage Bay is indeed a very difficult word! I think it’s kinda Airport CEO specific as you only get ACEO hits if you type it in into Google. I kind of like ‘Bagageband Ruimte’ as you suggest, but it does suggest that it’s a ‘Ruimte’, while it’s rather an object. Other possibilities could be:
The word bagageafhandelingsruimte comes close to a baggagge bay. Otherwise i would go for Bagage dok. Another word used is uitsorteerband, but that would only fit for half the baggagge bay.
I approve of landingsbaan, tankwagen & Checkin-balie as well.
Also: can we get an exception for this thread on having to use english?
Yeah, it might make more sense to use Dutch in this thread lol. I suppose the devs are fine with it.
Vanaf nu af aan dus in het Nederlands! Ik laat de beschrijving van het topic bovenaan wel in het Engels staan, zodat andere leden wel begrijpen waarover het topic gaat.
Ik ben door @JeremyK doorverwezen naar deze discussie n.a.v. mijn opmerkingen op de vertaal-website. Hoewel ik jaren op Schiphol heb gewerkt in de afhandeling (op het platform) begrijp ik dat de terminologie ook begrijpelijk moet zijn voor spelers die niet thuis zijn in de luchtvaart. Dat maakt het vertalen van de Engelse termen naar ‘begrijpelijk Nederlands’ niet altijd makkelijk.
‘Baggage Claim’ als ‘Bagage Ophaalruimte’ kan, maar ik zou toch ook ‘Bagage hal’ overwegen, wat minder geforceerd klinkt
‘Cleaning Service’ als ‘Schoonmaak’ zou ik aanpassen naar ‘Schoonmaak Service’
‘De-icing’ zou ik persoonlijk gewoon op ‘De-icing’ laten, of als we toch een Nederlandse term willen aanpassen naar ‘ijsvrij maken’
‘GA/General Aviation’ blijft voor mij een heel moeilijke…
‘Procurement’ vind ik ook een moeilijk woord, want het kan ook gaan over bv de aankoop van een spam filter, of van een upgrade waarbij je shops en food kan bouwen… Wat je niet echt ‘inkoopt’
‘Shelf’ inderdaad ‘Plank’ of ‘Schap’. ‘Plank’ vind ik zelf persoonlijk wat raar.
‘Motortrap’ is denk ik niet echt begrijpelijk, dan vind ik ‘Trapwagen’ persoonlijk beter.
‘Stand’ heb ik momenteel al de hele tijd vertaald als ‘Standplaats’
‘Turnaround’, ‘Het omdraaien van een vliegtuig’ kan je sowieso niet gebruiken, is te lang. ‘Omdraaiing’ zou wel kunnen, maar geen idee of dat duidelijk is.
