Early Access question

Since I have never experienced Early Access games, I have a question. Does everyone get the chance to buy Airport CEO Early Access or only select few?

Everyone gets to buy in Early Access, it just means that what is being sold is not the finished game, but some games stay in early acces for years eg Prison Architect

Everyone can buy it on early acces stage. It means the game isn’t finished yet and you can support the devs with ideas, feedback and money.

Alright! I wasn’t very sure since I have never played/bought an early access game.

One thing to take note of is that as above, the game is being released unfinished hence released as early access. So bugs, issues, missing content etc should be expected.

It’s also possible that the game will never be finished but abandoned, That is something you should make peace with, before purchasing, just in case the worst should happen. I have one or two abandoned Early Access titles in my library, shame, but it can and does happen.

I hope not, with this game and will be buying it once it’s finally released into EA.

I think there is a misunderstanding that AirportCEO is not “early access” but it is “pre-alpha”. Early access happens when game is sold or is given free to adverters such as Youtubers or Twitch players or maybe inside development team. But on pre-alpha, everybody gets the same game.

The choice of program name is somewhat confusing I agree, but it is what it is.
Early access refers to the Steam “Early Access” program through which the game will be sold, hopefully soon™

Here’s what steam has to say about Early Access, although it could probably do with being updated since it mentions Greenlight, which is no longer a thing.

Hey Medley, welcome to the forums.

No you cannot buy the game yet, because it hasn’t been released
The developers have scheduled the release for this month, so stay tuned

Oh ok i see… I wait the devblog 84 for today too !

Thanks for the reponse !

I think it is a valid question because there are many terms floating around regarding early access, alpha (pre-alpha) etc.

I think the correct term for Airport CEO release will be Alpha Early Access. As the game is not in a v1.0 state, Steam labels the game Early Access in the sense that you can get access to the game before it is considered finished.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the pre alpha early access version well evolve into by a final version!

Seems fair enough though I mean it’s a investment now as later you’ll get more out.

On steam, early access has an entirely different meaning then that. But yes, that is lne context of the phrase.

Do i I have to pay twice, if the game will be final releasted?
Or ist the early access my ticket to the final version?

Nope. You pay only once. Funny Question :joy:

As far as Steam is concerned, which is the only thing that matters, it is “Early Access”. And it is interesting that in the description there is no mention of potential bugs. Only that the game may or may not change further. Probably because they can’t, at least officially, be seen as selling buggy games.

Well, we have certainly been clear about that on our page if that was what you are referring to.

“As the game is released in an Early Access state there will most certainly be some bugs and glitches which we would appreciate if you could report to us. However, before you report a bug please refer to the list of known errors and missing features:”

Also Steam has played and approved our game. Steam utilizes the community to sort out the good from the bad by their 2 hour refund policy and the review system. We never received any feedback when our game was reviewed by Steam, we suspect that they checked for malware content and verified that it somehow matches the description and images on the store page.

I am referring to Steam’s own description, in the big yellow box, not your’s. As far as they are concerned, they know nothing about bugs/problems (which they do, but officially deny). As far as they are concerned, games sold through their platform are all in fine working condition and EA are in fine working condition that may or may not change further.
