I thought Steam only “played” your game as in checking whether it can be booted up or not, contains virus or not, then approve it.
Ah, I thought you mean our store page. Yes, you are probably right then.
Yes more or less, it says that features in game must match the features described on the store page but not sure how much they do to really verify this.
Now that you have had 1 week in Early Access, which I think has gone well - certainly the response from you in patches and community has that feel - can you say with some level of certainty - what the next week, and the next week and … will be please?
As you have not published a roadmap of features that will be added it is difficult for me to gauge the level of sophistication that this game will have on GA 1.0 - my prediction for that is 16 months more effort (my wetted finger firmly pointed into the air to measure the prevailing wind speed here). Incidentally my standard timeframe estimate for any software project where I cannot see what is available, what is required, what is missing and what will never be done is 30,000 man hours so you have got off lightly with 16 months
What do those 16 months look like?
What features are to be added (definite) and when?
What features are possible given time and good prevailing winds?
What is the future of ACEO after 1.0?
I , and I’m the rest of the punters shelling out our coin for early access alpha play testing, would like to know how much longer we are doing this for. Personally, I went through the 3 years of Introversion’s Prison Architect and enjoyed the process, but Mark and Chris were very clear about what their roadmap was - despite the surprises that Chris used to do and the sidetracks he used to make. They eventually delivered and I’m sure that Apoapsis will too if this 1st week of EA is anything to judge.
Basically Im asking for the roadmap again. What does that look like through EA and beyond?
And what are your plans for ACEO 2.0 (2018 call it what you like) please?
For me it’s £10 investment - not important - but I have only short enough time enough left on this fine earth and would like to know if the investment in time is worthwhile to GA release and beyond, hence my need to know the length of EA and when features that provide the necessary sophistication are added (or not!).
Of course, when you publish you are creating all manner of hell as you will not please a single person. Each will cry that the feature they wanted is not delivered or it’s too late. But, you also provide clarity to those that are patient and furthermore you are clearly signalling to the wider gaming community of the longevity of this product engendering trust in your company. Failing to publish is weak and feeble approach that says you are unsure of your capabilities to deliver finished product on time (I don’t think that incidentally), you are unsure of your vision of this product (I’m not sure on that), you are hiding the lack of depth/features to avoid disappointment in the fanbase early in the process (I’m tending toward thinking this), you are abandoning the product after GA release and will be offering partial long term support or none at all (my fear right there).
Others might say you are smart not to publish, keep your cards close to chest, don’t let the opposition see what you are. Maybe, time will tell, sadly we don’t all have a great deal of time left to spend on uncertainty
Great game by the way, will be a great product in time
