@dallas I have had verious issues with vehicles myself. Most of the issues i have encountered was related to how i designed my airport. I am not trying to point fingers at you because i do agree with you that vehicle path finding could be inproved indeed.
With that in mind sometimes we should just play around the tools the developers have given us. Report any prolems and be happy about that they choose to still work on the game.
If you don’t like the game then don’t play it. The devs will be fixing lots if these issues when the game goes into beta. Look on the roadmap on their website.
The doors are that way to allow separation in inbound and outbound - arriving will come in one side, out the other. This will allow you yo separate inbound pax from outbound.
I agree with Lundz - your words are harsh and destructive. Better design can help with path-finding deadlocks and I’m sure they’ll look at the whole vehicle path-finding in time.
I was under the impression that like most alpha phases. the game is still being fleshed out and features added to make it a complete game (feature wise). When it moves to beta the game will undergo optimisation and bug fixing like it is with most beta phases before finally being released as a version 1.0 which should be the polished article. It is not fair to complain about bugs that have been in the game for a long time (assuming the devs are aware of said bug) not being fixed unless they have still not being addressed after the beta phase @dallas. Instead of building things and complaining they don’t work as intended because the game isn’t finished, work out why the problem is occuring and try to build in such a way that prevents that bug from firing - essentially what I’m saying is that first image with the crossroad with shuttle bus stops on each end is basically asking for a path finding nightmare.
There is a problem specifically with the “realistic international flights”. I wanted to have maybe 2 international gates (medium stands) in one terminal for a US airport but when I have that option on for some reason every single flight to the us on a medium aircraft is scheduled as an international flight.
The US has a lot of domestic flights so IDK why every single flight wants to be international, it does not make sense, (my airport is in Boston)
Don’t really get this: Small ATC tower can handle a maximum of 25 commercial flights a day. Yet you can have hundreds of GA flights. What’s the point in that? Of course there should be a reason to upgrade to a medium or large tower but the capacity should be for all flights and rather on an hourly than on a daily basis. That would better reflect the maximum workload for ATC controllers. How about a maximum of 3/6/12 flights per hour for small/medium/large tower? That would be equal to 1 Take Off/Landing every 20/10/5 minutes.
Yeah, even with that setting not on, I don’t even have international areas unlocked and every flight is from Canada or is going to Latin America. I guess if it is based on aircraft range it kind of makes sense since my airport is in Minnesota, but I don’t get the point of international if all my flights are already international without customs…
Your layout for the shuttle bus stops are a horrible design in my opinion. There is no room for them to wait for the other buses to leave. It is way too compact … no wonder you are having grid lock… @dallas… and yes I agree with the other. Learn to give constructive positive criticism. This game has come a long way since I first started playing it and it gets better and better with time. However negative comments like yours aren’t going to get this game anywhere.
@MikeB. The way to set up the segregation of arrivals and departures is to have all of it zoned international.
Then you put 1-2 squares width of star zone coming out from the middle of the jet bridge all the way to the wall. That will force pax arriving on the lower side of your picture to go down the stairs and not go into the departing area.
Your example is not truly an international terminal if only the arriving is zoned for international and departures are not zoned international.
In your picture there is no way for the departing pax to pass the boarding desk and into the jet bridge. And if its an international terminal then the departing waiting area also needs to be zoned international as well. I hope that helps…
I’ll load my airport where segregation works soon and upload an image of how it should look with zoning… Stand by
Update: Here is my airport were segregation works for international… this will allow staff to pass through but keep arrivals and departures separated… make sure you zone under the jet bridge as well.
Whenever I turn on realistic international stands and try and load a world, it gets stuck and won’t load any further than this, with it off it works fine. Does anyone know if this is common or how to fix it?
To be honest, i hope map expansion will come soon. Now with elevators and walkalators? We can move people from one side of the airport to the other, so they don’t miss their flight :D. It’s amazing.
A few things I want to suggest after having a short look into the new version:
Vending machines:
I really would like to see the revenue of each individual vending machine, e.g. by clicking on it. If I’m not mistaken about that, currently we can only see the aggregated revenue in the management panel. By that I cannot really judge which locations of my machines are beneficial and which are not.
Passenger segregation - slim walls
To be able to build some good looking deboarding areas, slim walls could seperate arrival from departing passengers. Using the normal walls is not looking very nice to be honest. These slim walls would be built on the edges on each square, so all locations are still accessible for passengers. A bit like queues in front of security or check in counters. Of course, it is fine if it is only an aesthetic element without a function itself. The whole seperation can also work without these walls. I don’t know if it is possible from a coding perspective, but maybe it is something that can be considered.
Coloring of zones
I agree to the opinions above. Coloring of zones is a bit too shrill at the moment. Maybe it can be toned down again.
Never seen this issue before, does this happen on a new savegame or has it been transferred? And does the game actually freeze, or does it just take a very long time (>10 minutes)?
Correct me if I’m wrong but as far as I know smaller airports that are exclusively used for GA don’t actually need an ATC tower. Pilots are expected to communicate with each other on who takes off when. When an airport also has commercial traffic an ATC is a requirement, so GA should then adhere to the maximum flights. Nevertheless I feel like a maximum of 25 flights a day for the first tier is too low. A small tower is only be able to handle 4 to 6 stands depending on night flights and spacing. I would personally up that number to 50 flights per day for the first tier. (and update the remaining tiers accordingly)
The game currently doesn’t schedule flights based on real-life demand, nor does it account for the ratio of international to domestic stands your airport operates. The game will take a realistic range for an aircraft, and then find an airport it able to land at as a destination. It would be amazing if the game could account for realistic traffic flows in between airports based on real-life situations, but that would require a gigantic database running on the background.
Baggage Drop Offs:
As soon as a drop off point is connected to the baggage hub, passengers will ONLY use them. No check in desk will be opened anymore.
I expected that the bag drop offs will be an addition and not a replacement. And I tried to follow as much discussions in the forums as possible so that I don’t miss such details.
Advanced international Setting:
According to the forum posts of the devs I’ve read, the intention was that with this option, we could make also Small and Medium gates being international. Ok, it does, but there was no word about that the flight origin/destination is going to be ckecked. Now playing in a small country makes it impossible to use the advanced mode as every flight is then international, even the smallest ones. When I never get local flights offered, a domestic terminal is then useless.
I understood that we can still schedule all flights which we want to any gate we want and the origin/destination is not being used as before.
So for the moment, both features are useless for me if you want to play with a realistic terminal layout in a small country.
