The DHC6 (red circle) was just de-iced prior to takeoff. However, instead of exiting the Pad and taxiing to the right (green arrow) to a departure-only runway, it is going to the far left side of the airport (against traffic) to takeoff from the left-side, departure-only runway.
I have another de-icing station at the left side. I have a second de-icing truck. Is it at that Pad? Nope. In the Vehicle Depot. No wonder planes are coming to the right side. I’m paying a lot of money per hour for the left-side Pad to just sit there and make no money for me.
I face-palmed so hard, I think I got a concussion.
Is anyone else seeing this pathing issue i seem to be having or is it a design flaw on my part (i have reported it but dont remember the number). Its not easy to tell from the screen shot but the passengers at the bus stop are complaining of nowhere to sit (they are arriving passengers), however the passengers who need the toilet happily go find it above the arrivals seats. The passengers that cant find a seat stand around until their check in desk opens and then go check in, whilst those that need the toilet go and find a seat after they have used the bathroom. Im not seeing too many delays current as my airport is starting and i dont have many arrival options
It shouldn’t be a problem. Service vehicles do travel on a single tile road IF THERE ISN’T any other vehicle using the same stretch from the opposite direction.
Having one lane is not an issue. The de-icing truck uses it successfully.
Here is my regional airport so far, WIP. I intend to make this as large as possible (given the dearth of small plane mods). I won’t expand into the other three land areas.
I finally added a second Cargo Bay after building the two remote stands in the middle. The one CB with four ramp agents on each side has successfully handled the first 22 stands, since each stand might have only 2-6 baggage. The team can load or clear a baggage cart in about five seconds.
This baggage cart driver is a slacker. Refuses to leave the Cargo Bay. Keeps driving back and forth the length of the red arrow. Debug (Unoccupy Road Nodes) and save/reload don’t clear it.
ACEO-14740 ( Baggage Cart Will Not Leave Cargo Bay Departure Side)
Another exciting behavior: a Baggage Cart with luggage from a flight will enter the Cargo Bay Arrival side with a full cart. The baggage will magically disappear from the cart with the CB Ramp Agent assistance. The baggage will not appear on the conveyors nor at the carousels.
Try building a service road right next to the place where carts enter or leave to drop bags and pick up bags - that usually works for me as they need space to go back around
I wonder if adding a runway entrance/taxiway on the northern ends of your departing runways will clear the jam at the de-icing pads. Given the amount of traffic coming from your stands, I think most of those stuck aircraft are trying to depart on the opposite runways but no path is available to them? It’s probably not throwing exceptions as the path DOES exist, but they’re stuck in holding with all the traffic and can’t work backwards. Both sides seem to have the same problem, just all your stands on the west are highlighting that.
It does speak to the need to be able to link runways/stands/de-icing pads to dictate usage.
Well, I finally cleared that clotting of aircraft on the de-icing pad I showed in my 25 June post. Manually edited GameData.json to eliminate about 40 flights. Took about an hour. Hope it stays cleared.
In my opinion, de-icing takes way too much time per play. Is it based on real de-icing time ? Moreover, would it be possible to set 2 de-icing trucks per stands te be more efficient ?
As it is now, de-icing is not viable in large airport since, with a 120 minutes spawn between planes, I need around 1 de-icing pad per 3 medium stands, which is quite a lot of space.
I also wanted to know if it is planed to allow planes cross the de-icing pad even if they didn’t ask for this service ? In a way, it is part of the taxi way and I don’t think airports build two separate taxi ways just for de-icing (at least in my memory it was either done just before take of or just after leaving the stand but always on the taxi way).
Edit : Actually, would it be interesting / feasible to introduce sort of “bus stops” that can only be attached to taxi way blocks that would allow de icing trucks to be parked there and use the actual taxi way touching the stop as the de-icing pad ?
Does anyone have ghost planes in their saves as it is shown bellow ? I don’t know how to make them disapear and they are not listed on the plane planner.
Moreover, I still can’t report my bugs since my save is still bigger than the accepted size.
In an airport here it’s simply part of the parking apron. It’s actually a remote stand with its own parking numer, than a part of the taxiway (but taxiway leading to the runway is right next to it). In the periods it isn’t used for deicing, airplanes park there.
By the way, having remote stands constructed similarly like the ACEO’s deicing pads would be nice (no need for pushback then).
Thank you everyone for your detailed discussion and comments, always very helpful to go through.
No, not at this point, we might add it later but first we’ll need to overhaul the procurement system and some other gameplay mechanics. At the current stage I can easily see that players would easily become confused as to what vehicles goes where.
When did you start building this airport? I.e. how old is it?
During your summer hiatus, please fix path-finding. I would greatly prefer priority be placed to fixing this essential game mechanic instead of shiny new toys. Here is a prime example.
Do you see the Service Vehicle (red circle). It has no reason whatsoever being there. The only Stands it will ever service are indicated by the green arrows. It took a very log and tortuous underground route to get way the hell over here. Why? Is it planning to refuel itself with jet fuel?
Yes, I’m playing experimental. That makes no difference. Default release is just as bad.
