Airport CEO Alpha 32 released (The Turnaround Update)

Got more than enough depots and parking lots, most of them free (because cars are busy).
Actually the game worked well for long time and suddenly the problem occurs. Usually after a few (real time) minutes the ramp agents start loading the trucks again. Before they just stand at the bay, baggage truck is waiting but nothing done.
Seems almosts like a pathfinding issue (especially since it’s much better after reload with only short waiting time), but I don’t know how pathfinding participates in the work at baggage bays.

Love the template function. Could it be possible to also copy the queue lines? If I select them they are not included but I hate making them so template would be very helpful here

@dutchblond, I agree. A definite need.

From my experience, when I select the queue lines to copy and paste along with the check in desk, it copies. I’m not sure if you can copy a line by itself.

Got the next game breaking bug in the new version, suddenly workers stop all construction because no more material is being delivered (ACEO-16487). :frowning:
The current version really breaks the game for me. Still not sure whether it’s coincidence to get all the problems now or really connected to the -3 version.
This time even reloading doesn’t help which is very bad for me but maybe at least helpful for finding the cause. For now I have to stop playing until a fix is there because the construction interruption makes my main terminal not working anymore (road connection destroyed and the new one not being built).

You can use the F10 menu to turn off the requirements for material and enable instant building

Thanks for the info, that might solve the problem, I’ll try. Although it feels a bit like cheating, but better than being stuck with the game. :wink:

Thank you once again, after “cheating” and switching it off again, now for new construction I get material delivery again.
Just ran into the next problem however… dozens of baggage trucks waiting at the bay and none of them entering. The unloading side still works fine, only the loading side stopped working. Already tried closing and reopening it, no change.

Something with my save might be really broken. Obviously others don’t experience the problem, otherwise there would be lots of reports already.

Just a summary of what else happened until now:

  • The issue with the baggage bay in the previous post couldn’t be solved. Even after selling the first truck (the only one accessible through a click) and after removing the whole bay, the trucks there are still stuck.
  • All my medium stands got stuck with no cabin cleaning done anymore. I had to dismiss every flight manually, afterwards it worked well again.
  • I currently still have an issue with pushback. If boarding is completed but not every passenger made it, 9 out of 10 planes won’t get pushback started. Flight monitor stays with “Boarding closed”, stand details show “boarding not started” (but the correct number of already boarded passengers). At least once it also happened when all passengers were boarded. To solve this, I have to dismiss each affected flight manually.
  • Very new issue: Some flights just don’t get baggage trucks. They’re stuck with everything done except baggage unloading and loading, I got lots of available trucks in parking lots and depots but none will come to the flight. Only happens for some flights which I then have to dismiss without baggage service.

Other minor issues probably not related to my save but might be real bugs:

  • Sometimes during cabin cleaning when a truck is full and has to leave, the percentage in flight monitor will temporarily go back to 0%. For example, truck 1 goes up to 65% but then has to leave, flight monitor will show 0% and once truck 2 continues it will go on with 66%. Just happens sometimes, not always.
  • Another bug with cabin cleaning: Trucks leave the aircraft before they’re finished. The most extreme was a truck leaving at 75% and while driving along the roads still continuing the cleaning (percentage still got up to 100%, money was shown above the truck).

I will check this issues reported, but the issues you’ve mentioned @Gerwanese may be caused by the serialized state of the airport. I.e, not all bug fixes will solve behavior caused by a bug but instead prevent it from happening again. This is the most apparent drawback from playing the game on the experimental branch, as we simply do not have the resources (or in most cases, not cause enough) to write code that simply just fixes behavior caused by the bug. We do this in some exceptions, as when a certain bug has affected a very large group of players, but for most single specific case where a certain agent gets displaced or behaves in a certain way this is not the case.

That said, I will of course look into it (as always).

Individual queues, i.e. without a parent desk, cannot be copied and pasted since we do not offer queue construction without a parent desk. However, if you copy a desk and include the parts of the queue you want copied it will work. There are various safety checks included in the pasting code that will keep the queue as intact as possible, i.e. if you paste a queue over an existing object the paste will only spawn queue points as far as the queue will remain intact, starting from the first queue point (closest to the desk).

Thanks, @Olof. I didn’t report all the recent problems anymore because I think it’s too much about my broken save and there wouldn’t be much worth in sending in the huge save again and again.
Some things just get better after reloading, others don’t.

I’m not sure if it has any worth for you (since my save is pretty bad in general) but yesterday I had some more problems, while the “no pushback if not all passengers on board” issue is still there even after reloading:

  • suddenly ramp agents stopped doing the service round; still standing there but not doing anything or just doing a few percent and then stopping (cabin cleaning / catering / refueling are done)
  • boarding didn’t work anymore; with the large boarding desks, two people were stuck (one on each side) right besides the boarding desk and not getting any further although passenger service agents being there

Both problems happened again even after dismissing every aircraft at the airport (an option “dismiss all aircraft” in the F10 menu would have been great :wink: ). Reset all people nodes didn’t help either.
Tonight I’ll try whether the problem is still there after reloading. If you’re interested in it, I could send the save (or just create a new bug report with it), but I’d understand if you just declare the save “broken”.

Besides, I lost about 3 hours of playing time because saving didn’t work. I got the “Saving…” message on the top right which disappeared after a while. Only after closing the game I found nothing was saved. Maybe a message / dialog about the result of saving would be good.

I have the same problems at my airport… I just built it with Alpha 32… and it does the same thing… baggage delays… aircraft cleaning, and i have plenty of trucks and staff.

I can’t do anything without a bug report ID, so if you submit one and provide it here I can check it out!

any of my airports, wether it’s a saved game or a newly started airport, has night flights enabled when it’s not procured. I’m not sure if a bug report would provide anything extra on that.

Good evening! Another update has made its way out to you… we’ve found a few serious vehicle parking issues which is most likely which sent vehicles all over the map when interacting with stands.

@Olof reg. bug ACEO-16487 you want me to resubmit the save, but I can’t. Too large to send it via ingame bug report. Anyways it’s the latest version, but after few times reloading it worked again so I guess you don’t need to investigate any further. My current save doesn’t show the issue anymore.

To my surprise, today while running the game for more than 4 hours everything worked smoothly (except for staff shortage because of the well known bad work assignment, but that’s nothing serious and a common problem).
Only a minor display issue with notifications (ACEO-16540). Newest save included there, had to switch to WinRAR now to get it below 20MB (unpacked size 197MB). :wink:
