Remove food room with completed contract

I have a food room with an incomplete contract, and a big cancel button:

I also have a food room with a completed contract, and no cancel button:

I cannot remove that food room:

How can I get rid of that room before the contract expires?

You have to wait for it to expire. As far as I know, when you sign a business contract, they are “invincible” for the first time. Once they expire, they will either not renew (if they didn’t meet sales target) or automatically renew with the possibility to cancel/delete them.

Most easy way? Make a staff only zone around it. No customers - no shop (after a while).

It seems I can just wait until the contract renews and then cancel before it is fulfilled, but I need it gone now to make place for a new baggage carousel so that I can start using eight more stands.

To test this, I just created a new food room with a new contract and I can immediately cancel it:

It seems only after it is fulfilled I cannot cancel any longer, which is weird.

In that case I’m sorry for wrong information. I’m quite puzzled how it actually works then.

I can imagine some improvements in response to this oversight:

  1. Give completed contracts a cancel button. The cancellation fee (is that actually a thing in gameplay yet?) would apply in this case, because the contract is not yet expired.
  2. Give all contracts with expiry a “renew this contract at end of term” checkbox that is checked by default. Unchecking this will cause the contract to not be renewed when it expires.
  3. Specify the expiration of the contract in the contract proposal page.

Relevant to this topic, has anyone noticed how when renewing a food room, the size of the room appears to be reduced, maybe due to placement of hedges or other items within it once operating?

Most easy way is to make sure staff can’t get to it, as it will cancel automatically a few hours later. Just zone the area around it as secure/not secure, that way staff won’t get to it.
