Strange behavior, planes are ignoring the taxiway below which has green nodes the entire way in favor of using the runway to taxi when they need to take off a certain direction. This of course locks the runway to any landings while they do this.
They’ll follow the shortest path to the destination node. Also, arriving aircraft will back-taxi to a closer taxiway in certain circumstances (speed, distance, destination node, etc.).
I realize that, but runway shouldn’t be part of the equation.
It is in real life. I’ve been at a number of airports on several aircraft types and have experienced exactly that. Granted, the reason it’s happening here is a bit different, but the result isn’t unlike what you’d actually encounter.
We should be able to make traffic lanes on taxi lanes one way.
That is not a bug, you just need to extend the runway.
At this time, all aircraft in the game should be able to land on the default runway size So, in this case it Is a bug although it only seems to happen when you speed up the game
They can taxi on runway but they try to prevent it if possible. In this case the taxiway around is considered “too” costly for the path finding. My guess is that if you build another taxiway from the second Maple aircraft to the other side, they will use that instead to get to the take off position on the other side.
The terminal and stands are actually right and below the right side. The first taxiway up is probably as long as the far left one, and they use the runway to go left when the taxiway below does the same. I will need to count tiles to verify. I will also test adding another taxiway to see what happens.
I had the same problem on one of my builds, I think the addition of one way taxiways would alleviate this issue in most cases. I also have had the landing and takeoff direction flip which caused this to happen, it would be good to also have the ability to set which direction you want arrivals and departures to use. That way you could set up more efficient routes for your aircraft, it may also reduce the path-finding number crunching a little as each entity wouldn’t need to decide which is the better route.
Well the derection of arrivals and departures depends on the wind i believe
I have the issue when I have parrellel runways with a taxiway in between. Then the plane gets stuck on the runway and never moves
Do you have hold short nodes on the taxiway? Planes may stall out because of that.
Could you share a screen of your layout? Also try the latest experimental patch as we fixed a bug causing aircraft to stop on the runway.
