No sound at all

After Alpha 31 was released I went to play and I had no sound. All patches afterwards were also downloaded yet still no sound. I check to see if my laptop was muted; nope. All my drivers are up to date. I’m playing on the experimental branch 31.x.x (the latest). I pushed the sliders for the sound in game to max- no sound. I maxed my laptop sound- no sound.

I unfortunately cannot reproduce this and we have no other reports on it. I’d recommend you check your computers audio settings once more, audio drivers or audio hardware.

Sometimes it’s the hardware. I can give my own headset as example. It’s wirelss with usb-receiver. Soemtimes the usb-receiver needs to be plugged in renew as the wireless connection breaks at random times. Can you check if all hardware is ok?

I had no issues before Alpha 31 and I didn’t do anything new (add anything) to my laptop. All drivers are up to date. When I open another window on youtube- the sound is aok. If I go onto another game, I have sound.

I was having this issue on another game that recently came out called Overcrowd. The devs said that "It’s a known but rare issue that occurs in a very small percentage of systems in gamemaker games. Did you use gamemaker Olof?

I went into all my drivers and checked Asus for updates. Everything is up to date. Checked mixer, nothing is muted.

We do not use Gamemaker. As I said I unfortunately have no other reports on this and can’t debug it in any way, I guess you could file a bug report in-game so that we get the logs but I don’t think we can derive any important data from it - although I will take a look if you do.

Since we have no other reports on this I can only come to the conclusion that the issue is local… :confused:

Can I send you a bug report from another game with the same issue. Perhaps you can make sense of it. Windows shows the Realtek sound as the default setting, the sound driver is the most up to date, I checked for windows updates and it says windows is up to date. I played with the sound settings and oddly out of all the games I have on steam ACEO and the other game are the only 2 that don’t have sound. Although ACEO;s sound disappeared after alpha 31. Where can I send the bug text from the other game to you.

That won’t do anything good I am afraid, we have enough bug reports ourselves to dig into so I’d rather keep away from other games… :stuck_out_tongue: - the only thing I can do is recommend you to reinstall the game fully (purge all folders) and really dig through the drivers and potential sound card setup.

ok. Thought you could shed some light on what’s going on perhaps since you type in code maybe you would recognize it. I did report the bug when I played here the day alpha 31 was released. The dev said for some reason, Windows is changing the sound device instead of allowing the Realtek sound to avoid a crash. Thought it would help having the other bug report to compare. For someone reason this happened after Alpha 31 was released. On the other game I have had no sound since day 1 of release. Guess I will just uninstall this game and stop playing. Was a good run since Devlog 1. Thanks.

We unfortunately can only draw conclusions about issues when deriving data from several reports, one single report does not present any pattern we can analyze and therefore it’s very difficult to see what the problem is, especially when the log files don’t reveal anything.

Did you by the way check your audio settings? To make sure that the mute setting isn’t activated and that the volume on the game client is up?
