Is there a way of changing baggage bay orientation?

If the baggage bay service road connection ‘overhangs’ are on the East side, is there any way to make the departures belt be on the North side instead of the South?

Or any way to allow the belts to cross? (This is tutorial, not sandbox, and only the first level of baggage handling has been researched, as required by the tutorial.)

Belts cannot cross, you can move one of baggage belts downstairs/upstairs. If you have researched multi floors…

Incoming and outgoing baggage can actually use the same belts. So with a nice logic, they can be routed correct.

That’s what I usually set up:

I would like to see in game possibility to create 2 or more separate luggage pick up zones which would use one baggage bay.
It would be great that creating a scan separator - which would have a luggage ID and pick up zone ID. It may have 2 or 3 exits for conveyors and redirect your luggage to different parts of airport.
Like on screen below, I would have two pick up zones which would be separated by wall. It would be really great if we want to have 2 or 3 sections with domestic/regional flights separated from international.

You can assign multiple baggage claim zones to the same baggage bay.

Sadly, the logic of bag routing is then very random at the moment. Currently 4 flights in a row or more can be routed to the same bagge claim zone. Sometimes it switches or splits up nicely.

And once more:
If you want to use the same baggage belt but with two entries to drop in baggage, make a right click on the tilt tray. There you have an option to send bags to different directions. In case of your screenshot select forward+right.

In that case, please use a separate baggage bay for domestic and for international stands. Anyway, if you get a large number of gates and flights, one baggage bay will cause a traffic jam, you will need to add more.
For medium gates, I do assign maximum 4 to 6 gates per bay.

So here’s the problem (playing the tutorial). Your green boxes are locked behind some more research I think? All I have are conveyer belts and baggage bays, no ‘splitter’ like in your geen box.

Ah yes, that’s possible that those need research. I play sandbox and don’t care about such details. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

The research is “Tilt trays”, it becomes available for research right after researching the baggage handling. It doesn’t take much time to unlock, either, at least for me, that it unlocks even before all the conveyor belt paths get built by contractors (but I usually research it along with high speed conveyors on the 2nd program and only start building then).

Thank you all for the feedback.

I think perhaps it would be a good idea if the tuorial REQUIRED you to research the tilt trays.

Or there should be good description how tilt works, because I can do it anywhere, and it want to push it only forward. Have to try it in maybe sandbox mode.

To bad, this isn’t Factorio

You can use tilt tray’s as well to cross other conveyor belts, so you don’t have to go under or over a belt. I don’t think the tutorial should fully explain how the tilt trays work, the Wiki has an entry on this to explain it a bit more.

Once I had researched the tilt tray, I didn’t need the reorientation. Very powerful beasts. The wiki was helpful.

The tutorial could be better in this point IMO.

Let me show a very compact build to have all bags come in and out.

Thanks, Nowhere near that busy yet as I was making massive losses at the end of the 1st tutotial playthrough, so am taking it slowly the 2nd time. Checkin desks from middle left, baggae claim bottom left, nothing gets past the scanners.

The incoming bags do not need to be scanned. There is no impact to the airport rating.

When I fly into the US (from UK) my bags are scanned on arrival, so that’s what I decided to implement. Good to know though that Airport CEO doesn’t require it. Thanks.

Movint the topic on slightly. With the layout shown above and every bag outbound and inbound going through the scanners, what could be the cause of these messages please?

You don’t have the 3rd tier scanning. There would be a security guy “opening” every suspect bag and makes a final check.
