My incoming flights always seemed to be delayed an hour or so, resulting in turn around running over.
I thought this was due to a backlog of planes waiting to land, so I cancelled a number of upcoming flights to clear an hour gap with no landing.
The first couple of flights following the hour gap landed on time, but then as the game hour continued, every flight then came up delayed. Within a few game hours I was back to the same situation before.
Planes aren’t queue up moving from the runway to stands, most of my stands and taxiways are empty.
I guess the delays are caused by an overload of your Runway(s).Have you checked the “flights in pattern” (click on th RW)? If there is a queue of incomming flights, that might be the reason
Thanks both, I didn’t know about flights in pattern, but yes when I clicked on the runway I could see there were 4 flights in pattern.
My airport was setup with one runway for incoming flights on left, and one for outgoing on right handside. I have about 40 stands. So I tested changing the outgoing runway to take incoming flights too. This reduced flights in pattern on the orginal incoming runway to zero, but the outgoing runway suddenly shot up to 9 flights in pattern, presumably because it was handling outgoing too. You can see from the screen grab below that planes now pile on top of eachother on landing and queueing for take off.
I guess as Olof suggests I just have too much traffic load? but I can’t see an easy way to fit another runway without being able to expand any further. I guess thats the challenge?
Thanks all for your help. I can confirm by sacrificing 4 stands and moving some things around, I was able to add a third runway. This reduced the flights in pattern down to 1 or 0, and most flights started to arrive on time, the odd one still gets suck in the pattern and lands 30mins or so late.
