Airline Name: Split Air
**Airline Description: Originally founded as Balbisiana Air Freight (BAF) in 1930 by the Banana Baron Herman “Fleegle” Balbisiana to transport his produce at speed to European markets. He soon realised more money was to be made by carrying passengers and BAF quickly became famous for their distintively coloured flying boats plying the Caribbean Islands and North Atlantic routes. On Herman’s death the Banana Empire and Airline passed to his two heirs Smilax and Musa Balbisiana. Unable to work together the brothers parted company and divided the assets, with Smilax keeping the Banana business and family name whilst Musa took full control of the airline. Thus Split Air was born. Based out of its St Lucia Hub the airline today serves long haul European Destinations in addition providing an island hopping service within the Caribbean.
