Fencing in the airport

Hello! Does anyone have any tips about perimeter fencing around the airport? I see the vehicle checkpoints actually include ‘attachments’ for the perimeter fence, but they’re both on the same side of the road (the side with the security booth)–where do you attach the fence on the other side of the vehicle checkpoint (the side of the gates)?

Also, how is everyone fencing around structures? Like, for example, the catering depot has to have attachments to a public road.

What I understood, was that roads are avoided by animals anyway, so a fence can end in a road. That is also true for the checkpoint.

Isn’t there a bug where the land animals are able to pass through buildings?

And I’m not sure whether it’s a bug or not, but contractors cannot find their way if you zone in your entire airport. Like they cannot pass through the vehicle checkpoint. But surely, if the contractor and delivery sites cannot be built on service roads, then they must have clearance to enter the airport ‘secure’ zones? :man_shrugging: So now I have this gap in my fence next to the contractor site, and that is gonna let in animals.

Are the animals able to pass by underground roads? If not, then unlock early building on other levels and get the public road this way inside the perimeter.

I usually put a 2x4 building next to the contractor drop-off point, with an entrance onto the drop-off and an entrance opposite it into the fenced in area. The building is zoned as a contractor-only staff room, without any furnishings as the contractors don’t have any need to sit down. When the contractors need to access the airport then they go through the building. Presumably the animals won’t…

I have fenced the entire perimeter of my airport and still get animals on my runways and taxi paths. My security patrol will only go on roads so how do I get the animal off the plane paths?

@arawn: Wait for the animals to despawn. Also, note trees spawn animals!

Was supposed to be fixed. Please bug report if you are still experiencing it.

I just started a new airport, and fenced the whole start-block and I have not noticed foxes.

You can build roads on top of taxiways just fine.

Not of what I am aware of and don’t have any trends on that in the backlog. Verified in the last version released on Friday that animals cannot pass through fences, structures, the road check-point or over roads so I will need a specific bug report on this if you observe this bug.

I also verified in the last version that contractors in fact can pass through road checkpoints! :slight_smile:

Trees spawn birds but they should not be able to spawn foxes.
