DevLog 37 is up! A lot of .gifs and even an in-game screen. Whaddayathink? Check it out: http://airportceo.com/devlog-37-forum-minor-ui-revisions-fuel-depot-progress/
I think it looks great, love the in-game top panel!
Absolutely agree. Looks really professional and has all the features you’d need to see at a glance. The game is looking great.
Looks really good!
The gui changes are looking great.
The fuel graphics seem a bit off to me though Like a snake is moving from the truck to the fuel building
We’re looking to evolve that in the future, either by adding a hose or a mechanical pipe!
Thanks everyone!
I said this in the subreddit but I thought I’d mention it here as well. I think the V for the history panel might be better off being together with the weather and flight board icons. Also so that the notifications part of the topbar gets the entire space between the two dividers, instead of having an icon inside the dividers. It’s a verrrry minor thing, It won’t really affect the gameplay at all
The in-ground refueling systems are expensive for an airport to install I would think, but they become pretty important for bigger airports. Planes like the 747 and A380 are able to take six or seven full semi-tanker trucks full of fuel to top off.
Planes rarely take their full load though, unless necessary to reach their destination of course, or unless they’re “tankering”. Tankering fuel refers to filling up their tanks to avoid buying fuel at a destination airport where the fuel cost is significantly higher.
Interestingly, if you charge too much for fuel, airlines will start to tanker fuel into your airport, therefore eliminating much of your profits.
We get a fuel cost/tanker analysis done with the tanker savings and fuel costs at our destination airport printed on our fight releases by our dispatchers on our flight release paperwork. At least, every place I’ve ever worked at had this ability.
Tankering for planes? Really? Not questioned for ships, but for planes?
I thought planes only refuel as much fuel as they need to get to their destination and they will/have to flush unnecessary fuel while landing for safety reasons.
Am I mistaken?
Usually they just load what they need for the next flight, but if you are in Dubai (or a similar place) and fuel is cheaper than water it is actually worth it to depart with the tanks full.
Yeah Seraphin,
Every flight release I get has a price per gallon for the origination and the destination airports and if they tanker fuel it will show the cost savings. There’s a special section on our release fuel section specifically for tanker fuel. It’s serious business at the airlines to save a couple bucks. We never flush the fuel on airliners. There’s really no reason to.
It costs gas to fly the weight of the gas, but the difference in price doesn’t have to be much before the computer decides it’ll save us money. Course, there’s other factors. Passenger load, airport elevation, etc… but there’s quite a few times I’ve turned at airports and didn’t take any fuel at all.
I used to fly the 747 also, and it’s fuel capacity allows it to tanker like crazy. You could fly from Germany to an airport in Southwest Africa and back to Germany, and not even get fuel. It was usually pretty expensive down there. And yeah, usually anywhere in the Middle East it was crazy cheap.
