Contractors for Maintenance and Upgrades

Hey guys! I have to say, I love how this forum looks / layout … really slick design. This is my first post around here and I hope to contribute more to this game since I’ve picked it up a few months ago :slight_smile:

So for my idea, I did some searching and didn’t see it posted so here’s my rendition from what my title means:

Using contractors for maintenance of infrastructure, and upgrading infrastructure. It’s a bit of an immersion breaker for me when I hit that “Upgrade to Asphalt” or “Repair” and it just goes POOF GOOD TO GO! … I’m not sure what would work best, the ability to press “repair” and THEN the contractors come and repair it (possible making it unusable for the time being??) or just having them automatically do it. I like the former option, because then it’ll force a player to make a decision in when to actually repair, and heck, maybe we could even throw in some penalties (perhaps to the airline that’s operating off of the pad or runway) that if it falls in disarray, you get docked in influence or fees. This also means you’d want to keep some “on hand” contractors so maybe if you needed to do a repair quickly, they’d be out on it before the “reinforcments” came in :slight_smile: … It could also be really cool to see some critical states of items, maybe requiring a repair ASAP before you could use it again! (Possibly tie that into the more low the condition is, the more likely a sudden critical failure would occur.)

I don’t really think it’d add much more micromanagement to the game, but just another step and an added difficulty to work around that I’d love to see.

Exactly put what was in my mind.

To add to that, my idea is that the repair time shall be based on the present condition and number of contractors working. For eg, we can fix that, 1 contractor can improve the condition by 1% in one hour, so If I deploy 10 contractors to work at that location, in one hour the condition will be improved by 10%. During this time, I will have to manage my operations. Further, the max number of contractors to be deployed shall be fixed and should vary for small, medium and large stands (may be 10, 15, 25 respectively) and even runways. The rate of condition improvement by 1 contractor should vary based on the size of the facility like 1% for small stand, 0.25% for runway etc…

I would also like to see condition for taxiways. As of now taxiways doesn’t require repair. But those are the crucial part in operations.since operations is one of the core responsibility of a CEO, it would be nice to implement that. This will add slight complexity in terms of operations as we have to plan alternate routes for the aircrafts.

Yeah I love these ideas. Also I just noticed all of the structures autorepair when they get super low anyways, so heck could just make that tie into the contractors or something

i think i mentioned this in one of my posts a while ago… yes its totally unrealistic that push of a button repairs stands and runways instantly.
