Hey guys! I have to say, I love how this forum looks / layout … really slick design. This is my first post around here and I hope to contribute more to this game since I’ve picked it up a few months ago
So for my idea, I did some searching and didn’t see it posted so here’s my rendition from what my title means:
Using contractors for maintenance of infrastructure, and upgrading infrastructure. It’s a bit of an immersion breaker for me when I hit that “Upgrade to Asphalt” or “Repair” and it just goes POOF GOOD TO GO! … I’m not sure what would work best, the ability to press “repair” and THEN the contractors come and repair it (possible making it unusable for the time being??) or just having them automatically do it. I like the former option, because then it’ll force a player to make a decision in when to actually repair, and heck, maybe we could even throw in some penalties (perhaps to the airline that’s operating off of the pad or runway) that if it falls in disarray, you get docked in influence or fees. This also means you’d want to keep some “on hand” contractors so maybe if you needed to do a repair quickly, they’d be out on it before the “reinforcments” came in … It could also be really cool to see some critical states of items, maybe requiring a repair ASAP before you could use it again! (Possibly tie that into the more low the condition is, the more likely a sudden critical failure would occur.)
I don’t really think it’d add much more micromanagement to the game, but just another step and an added difficulty to work around that I’d love to see.
