It’s back! Manchester Alan Turing Airport returns for Beta 6, now with 52 commercial stands, remote gates, general aviation and hangars.

Inspired by Heathrow’s Terminal 5, Alan Turing Airport features a super efficient headhouse design, with 2 satellite terminals for all B and C gates, accessible via underground walkways with travelators.

Every terminal building is served by it’s own baggage bays and depots, essentially acting as 3 airports, to minimise turnaround times.

The airport features 7 medium domestic stands (3 of which are remote), 24 medium international stands (4 of which are remote) and a staggering 21 large international stands to bring those big birds in. With 2 large commercial runways, each handling 26 stands between 05:00-22:00, they can handle a landing every 10 minutes to maximise flight throughput.

With a new, large map, a third small runway with GA stands enable you to achieve the Airport of the Year award. Hangars have also been added, with 2 large, 3 medium and 1 small, for all your aircraft maintenance needs.

1,016 short and long term parking spaces are included underground and sheltered from the elements - with direct access to the terminal, so passengers never have to step outside. A national rail and metrolink station is also built within the headhouse.

Every shop, restaurant and cafe is featured and themed accordingly, bringing an immersive duty-free and dining experience. 7 airport lounge spaces are available for you to decorate to your own desires - 4 of which featuring sweeping outdoor terraces, with extensive views of the tarmac.

A new aspect to the design is the ability to handle passengers appropriately should you cancel a flight, with easy access from international to secure zone from departures. Nevertheless, this airport is completely departures/arrivals passenger segregated, for a true UK airport gameplay experience (and that includes the forced walk through Duty-Free).

This airport is very large but thoughtfully built, thanks to it’s efficient design (layering departures and arrivals processes directly above and beneath one another). Therefore, expect to see a cost per hour of around £130,000. Your long-haul passengers definitely need comfortable footwear for the walking distances!

I hope this design draws inspiration for your own airport ideas, and makes for a fun and true-to-life gameplay.

Enjoy!
