Asphalt vs concrete?

So my question is why concrete is more expensive than asphalt? And is it really that much better for an airport to use concrete?

asphalt tends to melt quicker, needing more repairs and thus more constly to maintain

But asphalt in turn is smoother so better for the stressful operations like landing, reducing wear on the plane. That’s why you see allot of airports with asphalt runways and concrete taxiways, durability where needed and costsavi gs where it can.

They have no effect on gameplay. One of them is gray and other is black texture.

There was a long discussion on the Steam forum boards a year back or so where a bunch of engineers had a long discussion on the mechanics of materials and in the end agreed that concrete is the more durable material, as identified by @dewitjur here. Before that discussion, we had it the other way around bu were persuaded to flip them!

Now it’s only an astetic difference but is there a wish to make it have an actual difference? (Functionality?)
