First off: Thank you for playing Airport CEO! It’s absolutely amazing to see this game still to this day have hundreds if not thousands of daily players building and managing small airfields to large international hubs. Today’s update is a maintenance release in response to a critical security vulnerability that was found in applications built with Unity dating back to 2017. More information about what exactly this vulnerability entails can be found here.
This release is available on the experimental branch and will remain there for a few days as we monitor the performance of the application and the implications of this engine upgrade.
Here’s the very short patch notes for this update:
Release notes: Airport CEO 1.1-2
Improvement
MERC-3161: Upgraded application to Unity 2019.4.41f in reponse to security vulnerability CVE-2025-59489
As you know, the development of Airport CEO has concluded and the studio is currently busy with the development of ATMOSFAR, however it is incredibly important to us that Airport CEO continues to run well and without any threat to the security and integrity of the player’s device which is why we’re bringing you this maintenance release.
Hi everyone!
We are aware of the bug and are currently working on it. We’re hoping to get the new patch out to the experimental branch this week. Fly safe!
Hey all! Sorry for the late update on this but a combination of the nature of this issue and how tricky it was to fix, combined with crazy workload in the other project, resulted in a very long wait. The issue was related to a write error on airport logos due to the fact the function we used to render out the texture seemingly was changed in the latest Unity 2019 LTS update, which meant we had to develop some pretty finicky workarounds.
That said, the issue should now be resolved an Airport CEO 1.1-3 is now on it’s way up on the experimental branch. Will transition this to the default branch sometime mid next week as no other new critical issues have been reported in relation to the LTS upgrade specifically.
Unfortunately the experimental adoption rate as a bit too low to confidently push out the update on such an early projection, but I’m happy to let you know that we’re now confident enough to make the transition. Airport CEO 1.1-3 is now live on the default branch!
This update also contains an important improvement that adds the ram reducer feature from PerformanceCEO into the game! This means that all users using any type of mod that involves textures will see considerable reductions in the additional ram overhead of their mods. So this is great news. Sadly it did not make it into the official patch notes (though it would’ve been good publicity) but it’s great that we have it.
I’ll update performance ceo as soon as I have time to do so.
Though this is oldish data this means that the memory usage of mods has gone from base to ram on this chart (note the exact scale is irrelevant but the relative decrease is what’s important)
