When I was flying to and home from Spain, i landed in brussel, i live in Sweden.
We landed on the same runway, at the same direction of the runway,
To Brussels from Gothenburg Landvetter Airport, from Brussels to Malaga, from Malaga o Brussels, and all these routes in a Airbus A-319, But not on the way home from Brussels to Landvetter, then we flew in a Avro Rj-85.
But still on runway 25R.
When we where airborn, we turned right, still over the runway, but we departed to the north-east or south-west, by turning right, and this got the thinking, will aircraft begin turning when they are in the air, or will they fly in a straight line until the end of the map? And will we see the aircraft roll to the side when they are turning? Will the ailerons, rudder of elevators be animated in future updates, or even in the final release, will the aircraft turn on and off lights acording to what part of the landing and takeoff they are in? Will we see a change in altitude when they land and takeoff? I may be asking too meny questions with the same answer, but I have more questions then I can ask so yeah… will we see pilots walking to and from the aircraft, I have seen pilots changing planes and new pilots going to the plane, sometimes I have seen the flight crew operating the gate of their aircraft. All questions will not be answered and maybe can’t be, but I am happy for every answer.
I doubt that the devs see the turning as a very important feature… It is just as realistic having it go in a straight line!
Pilots and cabin crew have been discussed; so I’d search for that.
All are quite good ideas though.
Hi,
I can try to give some answers. First of all, tilting a flat texture does not look good in 2D. We have tried using a pitch effect to slightly pitch the aircraft upon take off. This effect is done very subtle because overdoing it will make it look weird and the flat 2D sprite is very much revealed. So rolling will probably not look good at all, unfortunately.
We are animating flaps but will probably not bother on ailerons, elevators and rudders as this will take a lot of time and not add that much value to the gameplay. As we have said before all aspects must be carefully weighted. Same with the flight crew, it is a very nice feature and might not take that long but it can easily be overdone and could end up, us spending a lot of time on a features that doesn’t really add that much value. So it is always that balance that we have to work with.
Nice detail simulating flaps
